Citation chasing/tracking/analysis

There are multiple (webbased) programms that can help with the citation chasing/tracking/analysis: see which references your keypapers have used and which papers have used your keypaper in their reference list.

iCite (NIH) (free)https://icite.od.nih.gov/

  • Click on Launch iCite
  • Search for PMID(s), or search for author, title etc.
  • Choose which articles you would like to perform the citation chasing on by (de)selecting the box at the front of the PMID.
  • Upper right corner: click on Citing papers to view the reference list of the article. Or choose Referenced papers to see which newer articles references the chosen article.
  • If you want to add articles either from the Citing papers or Referenced papers:
  • Check which articles you want to download (a selection or all).
  • Choose Export.

You will get an Excel file with PMID. You can copy these PMID and search for them in PubMed, so you can create a download and upload the references in EndNote (for example).
