For a number of functions of online databases such as PubMed, Embase.com and other applications of the publisher Elsevier, it is useful or necessary to log in. It is now possible to log in with your microsection number.
In both PubMed and Embase.com, this involves setting up an alert whereby you periodically receive an update of new publications on certain topics or saving searches. Embase.com also involves exporting more than 500 search results to software such as EndNote.
PubMed
To log in to PubMed, click “Log in” at the top right. In the next screen, choose the bottom option: “more login options”. In the field “Find your login provider” type erasmus, and click on Erasmus MC. You can then log in with your microsection number and usual password. If you have previously created a MyNCBI account, you can then link your existing account to your Erasmus MC login details.
Embase
