Since October 2023 Erasmus MC has a subscription to Covidence, a system worldwide used for Systematic Reviews. Covidence can assist several stages of the process of the review, such as title/ abstract screening, full text screening, data extraction and quality assessment.
To activate your account:
- Click: https://app.covidence.org/organizations/5npMQ/signup
- Fill in your name and Erasmus MC e-mailaddress (only persons with an @erasmusmc.nl e-mailadres can use the Erasmus MC subscription to create reviews).
- You will recieve an e-mail with an acceptance link. Click on that link and follow the instructions.
Starting a new review:
- Click Start a new review.
- Choose Erasmus MC (unlimited reviews).
- Fill in the requested parameters.
- Upload the RIS file attached to the mail from the information specialists
- Using Settings you can invite other persons (als from outside Erasmus MC) to participate in your review. They will have full access to all functionality.

For Erasmus MC employees Covidence is free of charge, also to participants to your review from outside Erasmus MC. If no one from Erasmus MC is involved in the review your options are as follows:
- If the number of references is fewer than 500 a Trial review can be created for free, but limited to a maximum of two reviewers.
- If the number of references exceeds 500 and you have some funds available you can by access for one review for $289 (per twelve months).
- In other cases it can be an option to do the title/ abstract screening in Rayyan. After the first round, the number will probably be below 500, meaning you can use the Free trial to perform the rest of the review in Covidence. Export the included references as a .ris file from Rayyan and import these into Covidence.
